Official ruling of yards returned for a touchdown on a blocked punt.?

in saturday's iowa-penn state game a iowa play blocked the punt and returned it for a touchdown. my question is why the box score shows it as a 53 yard return for the touchdown. when in fact he picked the ball up at the 37 yard line. shouldn't it be a 37 yard return for a touchdown.
