Consistent breakthrough bleeding on birth control?

I have been on Nuvaring for over a year and a half. I will be calling my doctor tomorrow, but most months I start bleeding a week before I even take the ring out, so I end up having a period for 2 weeks. Has anyone had a problem like this on any birth control, and was it able to be fixed?
