Was Joseph Stalin in WWI or WWII or both?

Stalin had damaged his arm as a child and was declared unfit for conscription in the First World War, he spent most of the war years exiled in Siberia as a political prisoner. He was involved in the Russian Civil War from 1917-1919 and the Polish-Soviet War after which he resigned his military career.
