Ocarina Of Time Trouble Getting Scarecrow's Song?

ok im at death mountain {adult link} --- and im at the part where u need the scarecrow song to call Pierre so u can hookshot to him{in the boulder maze} but the problem is i dont have the song and every time i go back to see the other scarecrow he doesnt say "hey your the fairy boy..." he just says "i never forget a song..." no matter how many times i talk to him and also when i take out the ocarina he doesnt say "hey thats the ocarina" he doesnt say anything and he doesnt dance ---so im pretty much stuck where i am in the death mountain crater and cant go any further- any help would be great{oh also i have the N64 version not the gamecube version}
