"Consentida" in Spanish....?

I have a question. When I was with my ex (who is Hispanic) he got really mad at me when a guy friend of mine told me I was his "consentida." I know what it means..but why would he get so mad about that and tell me not to ever speak to my friend again? He got in a fight w/ my friend who proceeded to tell him that he liked me which is a whole 'nother story. Did he have the right to blow up over that?
