Anti-war sentiment in the Confederacy was weak or non-existant in most of the Confederacy. It was strongest in northern Georgia and a few other places, developing in New Orleans and some other ports as the Northern blockade cut off trade. Northern Georgia was anti-slavery and pro-Union from the start. These views forced the Confed army to divert units to put down Union activities.
