How do i know when my ear piercings are infected?

i use peroxide too but they would be infected if they were swollen towards the piercing and if you squeezed it, puss would come out and it would hurt...also your ears might always hurt the first time i got mine they never stopped hurting and they got infected and i had to take them outt.
