How do I find a great lawyer in a specialized branch of law in another state?

The State Bar for whatever state it is will have a member directory, and you can usually search by sections. ERISA would probably be listed under Labor and Employment/ Deferred Compensation. Most of the big firms have ERISA attorneys, but they usually work for corporations. You can always call them and see if they know of anyone who handles personal cases. They'll know somebody.
